Liminal Void Demo

LIMINAL VOID is a unique experience that's aware of the current indie horror scene but does its own thing. It has soulsnatching, rogue-ish gameplay loop, multiple ending, trippy visuals, contemporary dialogue, straightforward rpg action combat, and other esoteric mechanics. It has a lot of hidden goodies. It is even available in Japanese. Yes, it's a whole different experience. The soundtrack is all over the place. Guitars. Electronica. Ambience. Shoegaze. A lot of chaotic enemies. Plus the game can get fast paced. The characters are pretty unique. You won't find writing this good elsewhere. Please support the official release on Steam!

Regarding any FAQ and such, I'll update here so basically:

1. Text? Yeah, I gotta respect the 1GB limit policy. You basically get it from the Jeistar gdrive. Pretty sure it's all good with all parties involved but if not hmu. Really, just get the demo on steam. Gabe is cool. It's whatever, man.

関係者的には問題ないはずだけど、もし何かあったら 連絡してね。

2. Steam? This was released on Steam at a much different state it is in now. A lot of updates. People keep recommended to having the demo here so here it is. Sell it on Itch? I gotta give it some thought.

「デモをこっちにも出せ」って言われまくったんで、置いといた。

3. When will Liminal Void be out on Itch in FULL?

Very likely after March 15? We'll see

Liminal Voidのフル版はいつItchに出るの？
たぶん3月15日以降？ どうなるかはそのとき次第。

4. What the hell is version 1.1?

Basically how Liminal Void was supposed to be released. I cut back on a lot of story scenes and music. I also couldn't get achievements to work. The game had a lot of issues with settings. It was a big task and now I'm pretty much done. Just gotta do some playtesting, dialogue implementations, and the next update gets uploaded. Everything is fixed, and the players get more transparent game mechanics, options, as well as more guides, visuals, quality of life fixes, etc. Additionally, I expanded the entities list, and created 10 additional dialogue scenes, more music to go with that, and a lot more refinements to make the game a better experience.

バージョン1.1って何なんだよ？

要するに、本来のLiminal Voidの完成形。
リリース時には 多くのストーリーシーンと音楽を削った し、実績も実装できなかった。
設定周りも色々問題があって、めちゃくちゃ大変だった。でも、もうほぼ完成。

あとは プレイテストとダイアログ実装 をやったら、次のアップデートをアップロードするだけ。

何が変わる？
✅ 全部修正済み。
✅ ゲームシステムの透明性が向上。
✅ オプションや設定が増える。
✅ ガイドやビジュアル、QoL（操作性・快適性）の改善。
✅ エンティティリストの拡張。
✅ 新しいダイアログシーンを10個追加。
✅ 新規BGM追加。
✅ 全体的により完成度の高いゲーム体験に。

もうすぐ来るぞ。

5. What do you mean by experience?

Picture this if you will...you're waiting at the professor's office. You did okay on the first exam, failed the second, failed the third, and now it's the week before the final. He takes you aside and recollects his youth, telling you he sees a lot of himself in you. You're about to get a break! If you simply PASS the exam, your grade will ensure you will fill the prerequisite for your next mandatory course, AND maintain your GPA so you can qualify or maintain a grant/scholarship/aid/etc. 

So what do you do?  Well you're definitely not gonna stand up the love of your life, as ephemeral as they were. You made a fucky wucky. That's okay. 

You still took notes from the best students and you watched a lot of tutorial videos so in a weird way you still studied more than you had to. HA! That must be the meds talking. You sure are a funny guy, you moron. You just blew it. You're about to blow it. But whatever, here comes the exam and...

SHIT.

But wait, things make sense. Somehow eye muscle memory or some weird association with topics, keywords, even the imagery, flows through your mind. You feel a strange familiarity that the stress and anxiety calmly work in harmony. In a weird way, it subconsciously pinned the important parts of the class into your mind. 

And when you handed your paper to the proctor, they have the fucking nerve to look through your answers. You don't wanna know. You wanna just enjoy this period of  ignorance, but then again...they are looking out for you. In a weird way they just want you to be ready...

"You got lucky there, see you in fall..."

"Enjoy Your Summer"

That's pretty much what a playthrough is like. You can get a lucky break. But very likely, no. You need to play the game. But after some time, you'll pick up on some stuff that makes thing more fun. I hope this game grows on you, the way it grew on me.

「体験」ってどういう意味？

ちょっと想像してみてくれ…

教授のオフィスで待ってる。
最初の試験はまあまあだった。でも 2回目は落ちた。3回目も落ちた。
そして今は 期末の1週間前。

教授が君を呼び出し、自分の若い頃を語り始める。
「君を見てると、昔の自分を思い出すよ。」
…これは チャンスだ。

もし 期末試験に合格 さえすれば、
次の必須科目の履修条件を満たせるし、
GPAも維持できて、奨学金・助成金・援助もキープできる。

さて、どうする？

もちろん 人生の最愛の人（儚い存在だったとしても）との約束をすっぽかすわけにはいかない。
やらかしたな？ でも 大丈夫。

優秀なクラスメイトのノートを借りたし、チュートリアル動画もめちゃくちゃ見た。
ある意味、必要以上に勉強したんだよな。
「ハハッ、それって薬の影響か？ マジで俺って天才じゃん。アホか。」
お前はもう終わった。いや、今まさに終わろうとしてる。
でも、どうでもいい。試験が始まる。そして…

クソッ。

…いや、待て。

なぜか 問題が理解できる。
目の筋肉の記憶か？ キーワードとの奇妙な関連性か？
画像、トピック、講義の断片が頭の中を流れる。

ストレスと不安が、絶妙なバランスで脳内に張り付いてた重要な情報を浮かび上がらせる。

そして答案を提出。
監督官がその場で採点し始める。
頼むから見ないでくれ。
このまま 「知らないままの平穏」 を楽しみたい。
でも…いや、結局のところ、彼らはお前のためを思ってるんだ。
何かを伝えたいんだ。

「運が良かったな。また秋に会おう。」

「良い夏を！」

──これが、このゲームのプレイ体験だ。

時々、運よく突破できることもある。
でも基本的には ダメだ。ゲームを理解しないと進めない。
ただ、時間が経つと いろいろ見えてくる。
それが楽しくなる瞬間が来る。

このゲームが、お前の中に染みついてくれることを願ってる。
俺にとってそうだったように。
